Measuring stockpiles on foot is slow, approximate and puts people on unstable ground. A drone flight captures every heap on the site at once, and the data is processed into a surface model that the volumes are calculated from.

We fly the site the same way each time, so stock-takes and cut-and-fill figures are consistent from one visit to the next.

What’s included

Aggregate and material stockpiles

Volumes of each heap, for stock-takes and month-end reporting.

Cut and fill

Earthworks volumes for groundworks and site preparation.

Landfill and waste sites

Volume and surface change over time.

Repeat stock-takes

Monthly or quarterly flights, flown the same way each time. Available through Updraft Monitor.

Stockpile & Volume Surveys: common questions

How accurate are drone volumes?

Accuracy depends on the method, the ground control and the material. We agree what you need before we fly and state the accuracy on every deliverable.

Do you need to stop work on site?

Usually not. We agree a safe take-off area and flight plan with the site manager, and keep clear of moving plant and people.

Need stockpile & volume surveys?

Send us the address and what you need to know. We’ll plan the flight, check the airspace and send you a clear, fixed quote.
