Thermal imaging shows temperature differences across a surface. From a drone, it can reveal heat loss through roofs and walls, trapped moisture in flat roofs and faulty cells in solar panels, across a whole building in one flight.

Thermal surveys depend heavily on the weather and time of day, so we plan them for the right conditions and pair every thermal image with a normal photo of the same view, so findings are easy to locate.

What’s included

Heat loss surveys

Missing insulation, thermal bridging and air leakage on roofs and elevations.

Flat roof moisture detection

Areas of wet insulation under the membrane, to target repairs rather than replace the whole roof.

Solar PV

Thermal scans of solar arrays. See our dedicated solar PV inspection service.

Technical stills and video

High-resolution imagery and video for reports, tenders, claims and project records.

What you receive

  • Paired thermal and visual images
  • Annotated report of anomalies and their likely causes
  • Recommendations for follow-up investigation
  • Original image files

Thermal & Technical Imaging: common questions

When is the best time for a thermal survey?

Heat loss surveys work best on cold, dry, still days with a good temperature difference between inside and out, often early morning or evening. Flat roof moisture surveys are usually flown after a sunny day, as the roof cools. We plan around the forecast.

Does a thermal survey prove there is a leak?

It shows where moisture or heat loss is likely, which narrows the search dramatically. Where needed, findings are confirmed with targeted on-site checks.
